English Contest 2020 Final!
2021.03.09
< First of all >
Today we had the English Contest. Junior high school students had been preparing for this event for a long time. Finalists were able to experience public speaking in front of their classmates and have an opportunity to use their English in a very practical way.

First year students did a recitation and memorized a passage from a book called “Frog and Toad: A Lost Button”. It was clear that the finalists had spent a very long time practicing their intonation and pronunciation. All of them did an excellent job, however there were some standout students who had wonderful pronunciation. We also tried something new and checked students understanding of the story with a Kahoot! Quiz. This allowed all students to participate in the English Contest.

Second year students prepared presentations about current issues in our society. To prepare and gather information on their topics, students surveyed people from all over the world. The information and comparisons they made were fascinating and eye opening. It definitely helped students understand the need to think deeply about SDGs and worldly issues. Hopefully this experience encourages students to continue to grow in their understanding of these issues and also think of possible solutions too.

Third year students gave speeches based on their future dreams. As it is their final year in junior high school, it was a good chance for them to share to their classmates about their goals and ambitions. We were able to hear a wide range of dreams from the finalists. They were able to share clearly and passionately what their dreams were and what they needed to do to achieve them. We wish you all the very best and hope you can makes those dreams come true!

Well done to all the students who spoke on stage today. You practiced hard and gave your best! To those who did not speak today, make it your goal to be a finalist next year! To the third year students, good luck in high school. Continue to study English hard. It will definitely help open many doors in the future.
